A local patriot has decided to help our veterans in some way, by donating his own car to "America's Mighty Warriors".
"AC works, which is the most important thing in Arizona," said Steve Weinberg. "I just wanted to do something good for the vets, especially this time of the year."
He learned of the America's Mighty Warriors foundation, after reading a letter from the CEO's son.
"I did some research," said Weinberg, "and found a Gold Star Mom, Debbie Lee."
Lee's son, Mark, wrote a letter home while serving in Iraq, hoping to inspire others to be kind to one another, and support our troops.
It was the last letter Mark ever wrote.
"Her son was the first SEAL lost in action in the war, and god bless her, she helps families that have suffered losses," said Weinberg
"He stood in the direct line of fire three times that day, willingly gave his life for his teammates and for the freedoms we enjoy every day," said Lee.
Mark's final words inspired Debbie to create the foundation, which, in turn, inspired Weinberg to donate his vehicle.
"At America's Mighty Warriors, 90% of what comes in goes back out to the troops and their families," said Lee. "And this is exactly how we can keep that ratio so high, because we have amazing patriots like Steve [Weinberg]."
The donated vehicle will be used by the foundation to further its mission or caring for veterans and their families.
