Mission to Mars: 100 people hope to take one-way trip

More than 200,000 people applied and now the pool is down to 100 as 50 men and women are hoping to take a one-way trip to Mars.

The Mars One project wants to send 24 people to the red planet starting in 2024 in hopes of establishing a human settlement.

The final 100 people were chosen after several interviews and now the project plans to put on a reality-television show competition to narrow it down to the final 24.

No one from Arizona was chosen as a finalist.

Mars One says they'll need billions of dollars to fund the missions. They have a robot mission launch planned for 2018.
