Victims identified in deadly pedestrian crash in Phoenix

The crash happened on Tuesday near 32nd Street and Thomas Road.

Two people have died after being hit by a truck in Phoenix on the night of Tuesday, April 26, police said.

Phoenix Fire officials said that at around 8 p.m. near 32nd Street and Thomas, they got reports of a truck hitting two pedestrians. 

Once crews arrived, a man and a woman were found lying on the road. Earlier reports said that two men were found in the roadway.

They were rushed to the hospital in extremely critical condition and eventually died from their injuries. 

The victims were identified as 67-year-old Dorathy Chambers and 60-year-old Joseph Gutierrez, according to police.

The driver remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
