Phoenix woman accused of fatal stabbing at a home last year

PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman is accused of a fatal stabbing last year at a home on the city's west side.

Phoenix police arrested 33-year-old Monica Nicole Tercero on Tuesday after investigators say they linked her to the homicide through DNA sampling.

Police believe Tercero killed 46-year-old Lovette Gallegos at a house near Glendale and 28th avenues on Feb. 7, 2014.

Tercero remains jailed on a $500,000 bond on suspicion of manslaughter.

She didn't have an attorney at her initial court appearance Wednesday.

Police reports show Tercero has a violent criminal history and has served several prison sentences in Arizona.
