GOODYEAR, Ariz. (KSAZ) - No charges will be filed, in connection with an incident where five young kids at a school in Goodyear got sick, after eating marijuana-laced candy.
The five students, ranging in ages 10 to 11, told school officials they didn't feel well and reported experiencing light-headedness and stomach aches. According to a statement released by Goodyear Police on Thursday, the gummy-type candy, which was sugar coated, was brought to Incito School by a student and distributed to four of his friends. No students were hospitalized after being treated by firefighters.
After an investigation, police said the candy came from the home of one of the students who fell ill, and the family had left over Halloween candy in a large bowl. The bowl had candy which children had collected while trick-or-treating, in addition to candy added by outside family members, friends, and neighbors.
Police said the original source of the marijuana-laced candy is impossible to trace to an individual, and no charges will be filed, as police determined there is no criminal intent.
