Small plane makes emergency landing in Phoenix
A small plane landed near 7th Street and Missouri Avenue on Sunday afternoon after officials said it made an emergency landing.
What we know:
The crash happened near 7th Street and Missouri Ave just after 2:37 p.m. on April 12.
According to Phoenix Fire, the small water aircraft made an emergency landing. Three people on board suffered minor injuries and were able to get out of the plane before crews arrived.
All individuals involved were evaluated at the scene and refused to be taken to a hospital. No one else was hurt.
What they're saying:
The captain said it was a miracle the plane was able to land without hitting any cars or buildings, as 7th Street can be busy with cars, pedestrians, and bikers, on top of the restaurants and apartments nearby.
"I’m looking to the right and I’m like ‘Woah is that plane going to crash?’ And I’m looking at it in like slow motion falling," a witness said. "And as it’s falling I’m like — it landed kind of perfectly. So I’m like ‘Woah that is crazy nobody got hurt.’"
Another witness added, "We ran over there- we asked everyone, ‘Is everyone OK?’ Everyone looks perfectly fine. So something just gave me the chills in my body and I’m like I just gotta hug him. So I just hugged him. Then I was like ‘You good?’ Then he was like 'I’m great."
What we don't know:
It is unclear why the plane went down.
What's next:
The roads between Missouri and Colter will be shut down on 7th Street for several hours. There is also a water main issue in the area.
FOX 10 has reached out for additional information. The NTSB is investigating.
