Sunrise HS teachers appear in court
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Brian and Jennifer Woolsey are popular teachers at Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, a part of the Peoria Unified School District. Both were arrested last Friday after the accuser, who is now an adult, got in touch with police.
Brian Woolsey was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail. He's a 45-year-old math teacher, soccer, and softball coach at Sunrise Mountain HS. According to the probable cause statement, Woolsey had sex 75-100 times with a female student starting in 2010 when she was 15. He broke off the relationship three years later.
Prosecutors believe Woolsey, and the girl exchanged nude photographs of each other from their cell phones. He also recorded one of their sexual encounters. According to the statement, Brian's wife Jennifer saw the video but did not call police. She is a language arts teacher at the school and also was booked into jail.
In Surprise where the couple lives, neighbors were stunned by news of the arrests.
"He seemed like a nice guy, how are you doing, how are you, that is all it was. This is just crazy, sad, and disturbing to hear, my neighbor!" said neighbor Tyler Cohen.
The district said it did not know about these alleged sex crimes, both Brian and Jennifer Woolsey are on administrative leave while they conduct an investigation.
