MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - An east valley neighborhood near Rio Salado Parkway and Alma School Road woke up to a massive amount of water in their front yard after a 16 inch water main broke in the early morning hours.
While some made the best of it, swimming in kayaks and canoes, it did cause some damage to homes.
The city of Mesa finally came out to the neighborhood to repair the water main break. Once the water was turned off, crews began cleaning up the mess.
Twelve homes were impacted by the flooding, and one was completed flooding, resulting in an evacuation.
