Closed Maryvale hospital to reopen in 2019

Officials with Maricopa Integrated Health System announced Wednesday it will reopen a now-closed hospital in Maryvale in 2019.

According to a statement, MIHS will reopen the hospital's emergency department, as well as reopening the facility as a behavioral health hospital with up to 203 beds to address unmet mental health services needs in the West Valley.

The hospital was closed by Abrazo Community Health Network in December 2017. MIHS officials noted that prior to the hospital's closing, its emergency department has over 40,000 visits each year.
