Deadly crash on Loop 202 in Gilbert
The San Tan Loop 202 is back open in Gilbert following a deadly rollover crash. FOX 10's Danielle Miller reports.
GILBERT, Ariz. - A man is dead after authorities say he was hit by multiple vehicles late Sunday night along an East Valley freeway.
What we know:
The crash happened at 11:10 p.m. on Aug. 17 along the Loop 202 Santan. The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a driver who was involved in a rollover crash in the eastbound lanes exited his vehicle and entered the westbound lanes where he was hit by a white van.
"Multiple vehicles subsequently struck the man. He was pronounced deceased at the scene," DPS said.
The freeway was shut down in both directions between Gilbert and Lindsay Roads. It has since been reopened.
What we don't know:
The driver hasn't been identified.
What's next:
DPS is investigating the incident, along with the Gilbert and Tucson Police Departments, and the Arizona Department of Transportation.
