DPS: Woman, children injured in fiery wrong-way crash near Maricopa

MARICOPA, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Authorities say a woman, teen and two children were injured after a wrong-way driver crashed into their SUV head-on near Maricopa.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a red Dodge pickup truck was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of State Route 347 near Maricopa on April 3 when it collided head-on with an SUV near Miller Road.

DPS says the 32-year-old driver of the SUV, a 15-year-old teen and two children, ages 12 and 9, escaped the vehicle before it caught on fire.

All four people were taken to a hospital for their injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 26-year-old man, is being investigated for impairment.
