Early-morning shooting outside a west Valley hotel

A man is in critical condition after a shooting outside of a Phoenix hotel early Sunday morning. Two people are now being questioned about the shooting.

Officers say gunfire broke out right outside the Premiere Inn near Metro Center Mall at I-17 and Peoria Avenue.

An officer found the victim, a 41-year-old black man, in the parking lot of the hotel. Police say that someone at the hotel opened fire several times on the victim. Police say they've detained two people for questioning in connection with the shooting.

The victim is in surgery and is reportedly in critical condition.
