Police say officers responded to reports of a shooting near 7th and Southern Avenues early Friday morning and found a man dead in front of a home.

A suspect has been arrested after a man was found shot and killed in front of a Phoenix home.

What we know:

The Phoenix Police Department says officers on Aug. 15 responded to reports of a shooting at a home near 7th and Southern Avenues just before 3:45 a.m.

Once at the scene, the officers found 41-year-old Gabino Martinez Jr. on the ground. He was pronounced dead by firefighters.

Police say officers responded to reports of a shooting near 7th and Southern Avenues on Aug. 15 and found a man dead in front of a home.

Police say multiple people at the scene were detained.

"Homicide detectives responded and took over the investigation. They processed the scene, spoke to witnesses, and searched for video surveillance," Sgt. Phil Krynsky said. "Detectives later released the individuals who were detained."

On Sept. 11, police said 33-year-old Luis Alejandro Mejia Mollinedo had been arrested and booked into jail.
