Pedestrian killed, another injured by vehicle outside Gilbert VA clinic

One person is dead and another is injured following a crash outside of the Veteran Affairs office in Gilbert on Friday, Jan. 17.

Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the VA clinic around 11:15 p.m.

What they're saying:

Police believe that two people were walking in the parking lot when one person fell over and was run over. 

According to a release, that person was pronounced dead on the scene.

The second person was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement, the Phoenix VA Health Care System said the person who died was a military veteran.

What's next:

Gilbert Police are working to reconstruct the scene for the investigation.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

What we don't know:

We are also awaiting the identities of all three parties involved and if charges will be filed.
