Pedestrian killed by train near Casa Grande

A victim was hit and killed by a train in the Casa Grande area early Saturday morning.

Pinal County Sheriff's deputies say the pedestrian was hit by a train near Casa Grande at about 1am. Deputies say the train stopped in the area of I-10 and Cox Road.

Deputies from the sheriff's department are on the scene investigating a two to three-mile stretch of track for possible evidence. Union Pacific is restricting rail traffic during the investigation.

Deputies have not yet released the name of the victim.
