Phoenix to Baltimore flight returns to Sky Harbor after possible odor reported in cabin
PHOENIX - An American Airlines flight returned to Phoenix after people began to feel nauseous, dizziness and sore throats due to a reported odor on the plane.
Flight 1100 was heading to Baltimore, Maryland from Sky Harbor Airport, but turned around after two flight attendants began to experiencing the symptoms shortly after takeoff on Friday morning.
They described a strong odor of burning rubber that later dissipated.
Firefighters treated the two flight attendants at the scene. Both showed stable vital signs and declined transport to a hospital.
Phoenix Fire Department Captain Larry Subervi initially said at least eight people on board were complaining of feeling sick. But no passengers required medical assistance.
American Airlines officials say the 146 passengers and crew will be put on a different aircraft.
