Recalled Vive Health Bed Rail Collection V (model number LVA2097SLV)
Vive Health is recalling three models of their Vive Health adult bed rails after they received reports of two people who were killed while using them.
In the recall notice, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says the bed rails pose a risk of entrapment and asphyxia because people can get trapped between the rail and the mattress or within the rail itself.
What we know:
The three models of bed rails that were impacted are the Vive Health Compact Bed Rail (model LVA2009SLV0, Bed Rail Collection V (model LVA2097SLV), and the Vive Health Bed Rail (model LVA1024) that were purchased on or before August 21, 2023.
The backstory:
According to the CPSC recall notice, in September 2024, a 93-year-old man was killed at his home in Florida and a 97-year-old man was killed at an assisted living facility in Texas, both while using the bed rails.
Viva Health sold approximately 122,000 units of the bed rails at medical supply stores around the country, on their website, through Amazon and online medical supply stores.
What's next:
Vive Health is asking users to stop using the recalled Vive Health Bed Rails and contact them for a full refund.
CPSC says anyone using the rails should report any related incidents to them at SaferProducts.gov.
