COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC - A second suspect has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Conner, officials said.
Chauncey Askew, 18, was taken into custody early Tuesday morning in Loris, SC after a lengthy manhunt and standoff with SWAT, Columbus County District Attorney Jon David and law enforcement announced at a news conference. He is facing charges of first-degree murder.
Askew is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
