Surprise police: Man fatally shot by repairman

SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Surprise Police say a man was shot and killed by a handyman he had called to make repairs in his home Friday afternoon.

The resident has been identified as 41-year-old Frank Pineda. He was taken to a local hospital to treat his wounds but was later pronounced deceased.

Officials say an official cause of death has not been established by the medical examiner's office, but police are treating this case as a homicide.

Investigators are still not sure what led up to the shooting near Citrus Road and Grand Avenue, but officials say "an altercation ensued" between the repairman and the resident of the home.

The repairman was taken into custody by police.

Police say there is no threat to community members at this time.
