Tofu recalled over possible ink contamination; sold in 29 states

    • Hodo recalled over 10,000 cases of its Chili Crisp Lightly Fried Tofu.
    • An FDA posting indicated that the tofu may have been contaminated with ink.

More than 10,000 cases of tofu were recalled across nearly 30 states after the discovery of a potential contaminant.

Big picture view:

The Food and Drug Administration posted that Hodo, Inc., pulled cases of its Chili Crisp Lightly Fried Tofu. The tofu came in eight-ounce packages that were sold in six- and 30-pack cases. The FDA post indicates that 10,084 six-pack cases and 486 30-packs were subject to the recall.

The reason for the recall, which was issued earlier this month, was listed as potential chemical contamination of the tofu because the items could have ink in them. 


 

Little other information is available about the recall. The FDA noted that no press release was issued. A list of states where the tofu was sold and their use-by dates can be found below.
