Avalanche engulfs moving train in the Alps

Passengers were terrified when an avalanche crashed into a train they were riding on in the Swiss Alps.

A passenger on a train traveling through the Swiss Alps captured the harrowing moment when an avalanche crashed into the moving train.

The train was traveling near Zermatt, a ski resort in southern Switzerland’s Valais canton, when the avalanche hit.

What they're saying:

As the avalanche approaches, a child is heard in the background repeating, "Uh-oh" as another passenger asks, "Are we going to be OK?"

Everyone on board was OK, but Kirsten Osborne, the tourist who took the video, they were all stuck "for two hours before rescue and provided bus transport to safety."

The train route was suspended for the rest of the day due to the heightened avalanche risk.
