Video shows wrong-way driver moments before deadly crash

Dash cam video shows an 18-year-old woman driving against traffic moments before a deadly crash on Interstate 17 near 7th Avenue. The woman died in the crash. Another driver suffered life-threatening injuries.

A woman is dead following a wrong-way crash along Interstate 17 early Wednesday morning in Phoenix.

What we know:

The crash happened on June 4 near 7th Avenue. The Arizona Department of Public Safety says an 18-year-old woman was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when she crashed head-on into a pickup truck.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A man driving the pickup truck was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Southbound I-17 was closed for several hours. It was reopened just before 7:30 a.m.

Woman, 18, killed in I-17 wrong-way crash

An 18-year-old woman died on June 4 after authorities say she crashed head-on into a pickup truck while driving in the wrong direction along Interstate 17 in Phoenix. FOX 10's Irene Snyder reports.

What we don't know:

The woman was not identified. DPS says it's unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash.
