Yet another recall over Salmonella-linked milk; item sold at Costco, Target, Walmart, other stores
Single pack and two-packs of Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread were voluntarily recalled because its manufacturer used the affected milk powder in its seasoning blend.
Shoppers at some of the nation’s biggest grocery chains are being warned about the latest products pulled from shelves as the result of a previous powdered milk recall. Costco, Kroger, Publix, Target, and Walmart stores are among the more than 20 companies where the items were sold.
To date, over 40 food items from multiple manufacturers have been affected by the Salmonella fears tied to those sourced dairy products.

What we know:
The cheese bread is the latest item linked to the recalls of the California Dairies’ powdered milk and powdered buttermilk that was sold in bulk to wholesale distributors and manufacturers.
Since that recall was announced, the Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture have been identifying products that were made with the powdered milk products, and each agency has been compiling lists of known products. See their trackers on the FDA website and USDA website.

Fox Television Stations has been following their latest updates as well and compiled items found on both lists.

What we don't know:
The list of downstream products has been steadily growing since the original recall was announced last month. No information has been given about how many items may end up being pulled or how long it will take to track them all down.
Why you should care:
Eating food that has been contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, a common bacteria-based foodborne illness. Most infected people will experience fever, diarrhea, or abdominal pains within six hours to six days after eating the foods. The illness can last up to a week. Even though it can cause some hospitalizations, most people recover without treatment.
What you can do:
Those who purchased the now-recalled 5 Cheese Bread are asked not to eat the bread. Costco customers were told they can return it to their local Costco location for a full refund. Anyone with questions can contact the company directly by emailing info@championfoods.com.
Champion Foods’ statement indicated that tests found no evidence of Salmonella in the cheese bread and no illnesses have been reported in connection with it. The company said the recall was issued out of an abundance of caution.
