Monsoon 101: Stay indoors during a thunderstorm
Use the 30-30 rule: When you see lightning, count the time until you hear thunder. If it’s 30 seconds or less, the storm is close enough to be dangerous to you. Seek shelter and wait 30 minutes. During an intense lightning storm, your home is safest. Stay away from main-lined telephones, electrical appliances, and plumbing.
