Phoenix Zoo surprised by the birth of a baby Brazilian Rainbow Boa

The birth is a surprise because the snake's mother has been at the zoo for a decade and has not had any male companions during that time. Keepers believe the baby snake was born by something called parthenogenesis, a type of asexual reproduction. Experts say this is known to happen in reptiles, but it's very rare.
