As summer approaches, many young adults are looking beyond vacations and relaxation in favor of earning extra cash and gaining work experience.

According to a new WalletHub study, this year may be one of the best times in recent memory to land a summer job, thanks in part to ongoing labor shortages across the country.

What they're saying:

"It’s a great time to get a summer job, considering that a lot of places are still having labor shortages and may increase their compensation as a result," said Chip Lupo, a WalletHub analyst. "In addition to good pay and good work conditions, the best cities for summer jobs also have attractive features like short commute times and fun activities to engage in outside of work."
