Bicyclist who was rushed to hospital dies

A bicyclist died after being rushed to the hospital during a ride in South Mountain Park on Saturday morning.

Phoenix Fire crews responded to South Mountain Park had about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday following the collapse of a 54-year-old bicyclist. The cyclist was complaining of chest pains and fell to the ground about one hundred meters from the Desert Classic trailhead.

A group of cyclists who was with the victim started CPR. Technical rescue teams from Tempe, Chandler and Phoenix assisted with attempts to bring the man down from the mountain. The Phoenix Fire Department says the man passed away at the hospital.
