Cases of Distemper reported in Arizona

It happened every spring, and this spring is no different: there are several cases of the deadly canine Distemper virus reported.

Several have been quarantined at the Arizona Humane Society, and dog owners are asked to make sure their dog's vaccinations are up to date.

Distemper is a virus spread from dog to dog, and can even be found in other wildlife in the community. The virus peaks in the spring and summer time, but it is preventable.

Currently, there are 12 dogs at the Arizona Humane Society that have Distemper and are being treated. In the meantime the shelter has paused dog owner surrender appointments.

Arizona Humane Society does offer vaccinations all day, every Friday, for $21.
