Driver & four horses killed in SR77 crash
DUDLEYVILLE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers say one person was killed in a crash on State Route 77 on Sunday. Four horses were also killed in the deadly accident.
Troopers say a black passenger vehicle hit a group of eight horses in the road at about 4:30 am on Sunday. They say the driver of that passenger car was killed in the crash.
Three of the horses were killed, and a fourth had to be euthanized because of its injuries.
A pickup truck was also damaged when the vehicle struck one of the dead horses. No word on injuries to the truck driver.
State Route was shut down at milepost 132, and the road was reopened just before 1 p.m. Traffic had been routed through the town of Dudleyville.
The name of the driver who was killed in the crash has not yet been released.
