A Valley father who is facing deportation is seeking refuge in a church.

The father, Jesus Berrones, has already been deported twice. This time, however, he is hoping to stay because his five-year-old son is battling Leukemia.

On Monday afternoon, FOX 10 Phoenix has learned that Berrones, who was supposed to turn himself in to ICE officials at 9:00 a.m., has been granted a stay by that agency.

According to the Associated Press, Berrones, 30, was brought to the U.S. as a toddler, and reports say he is now granted permission to stay in the U.S., for another year.

FOX 10's Danielle Miller reports.
