Glendale non-profit helps autistic adults find their creative outlets
GLENDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Creativity is in the air in Glendale where a non-profit is creating stars to not only spread kindness, but a very special awareness.
"Once Upon a Star" is an organization that helps autistic adults use their creativity in art, music, and dance. Organizers say it's a way to help autistic adults in every spectrum feel involved in their community.
"April is Autism Awareness Month, so it's really important that we get the word out of what our population is doing out there," said program director Susan Sorgen-Jones. "There's very talented artists, musicians, and dancers who have a lot to offer. Lots of young entrepreneurs on the spectrum will have tables as well."
Once Upon a Star will be having their very own fundraiser on Sunday, April 28 at Desert Rose Pizza and Gastropub where there will be special prizes and a surprise choir from England.
