Man pleads not guilty to fatal drive-by shooting

PHOENIX (AP) - An 18-year--old man has pleaded not guilty in the Feb. 20 killing of a 16-year-old girl during a Phoenix-area drive-by shooting.

Jason Christopher Lindsey entered the plea in Maricopa County Superior Court on Wednesday to charges of first-degree murder and other crimes.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Niani Rayshawn Allen was riding in a car in west Phoenix when a gun was fired from another vehicle. She was later pronounced dead at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Sheriff's spokesman Chris Hegstrom said the victim and Lindsey were part of two groups involved in an earlier altercation at a high school basketball game.
