Memorial for fallen DPS trooper Tyler Edenhofer continues to grow

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- People around the Valley continue to remember the life of fallen DPS Trooper Tyler Edenhofer, as a memorial for the late trooper continues to grow at DPS Headquarters in Phoenix.

DPS confirms 20-year-old Isaac King, the suspect in the fatal shooting of Trooper Edenhofer on Wednesday night, is awake following a medically induced coma. DPS says he shot and killed Edenhofer on I-10 near Avondale during a fight.

"Law enforcement families, we are one and to have a brother in blue not going home, this is a way to show we love them and appreciate them," said one man at the DPS headquarters memorial, identified only as "Stewart". "If you haven't walked in the shoes, it is hard to judge that, and those that haven't done that work need to stand back and appreciate what our cops do, because if you haven't lived that, you don't understand that."

Stewart and his wife, Bree, are both from police families, where the chance of sudden violence is a part of life.

"It is just sad. A sad, hard thing," said Bree. "We want the family to feel the love and support in every way possible. Amazing how the community comes together and rallies for the fallen. There is a brotherhood that exists with officers. Amazing to see and to witness."
