Phoenix police: 2 women shot at Tolleson home, suspect identified

Authorities have identified a woman who was fatally shot at a Tolleson home as police continue to search for the alleged shooter.

In what Phoenix Police officials are calling "a tragic incidence of domestic violence," one of the women, identified as 55-year-old Maria Castillo, died at the scene, and the other was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Her name has not been released.

Officers responded to the scene near 99th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. By the afternoon, police identified the suspect as Jorge Luis Valerio, 44. Investigators believe Valerio was in a relationship with one of the women.

Meanwhile, neighbors are on edge. Charisse Walls, who is the president of an area HOA, said the whole neighborhood is on the lookout, in case the suspected killer comes back.

As detectives combed through the home to collect evidence, neighbors tried to collect as much information as they could. Meanwhile, as family members grieve the loss of one, and the near-loss of another, they are also hurting for the children, ages 10 to 14, that were home at the time.
