Powerful winter storm system brought rain, snow to Arizona
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP/FOX 10) - On Monday, a powerful storm system brought heavy snowfall to Northern and Eastern Arizona, while bringing hail, rain, and cooler temperatures to the Valley.
The National Weather Service says the Flagstaff airport has seen more than 14 inches (35 centimeters) of snow from the storm.
Six to eight inches (15 to 20 centimeters) have fallen in Payson, four inches (10 centimeters) in Show Low and four to seven inches (10 to 17 centimeters) in Prescott.
Meteorologist Nathan Lynum says northern Arizona will experience widespread snow showers on Monday.
Lynum says another winter storm is expected to move through northern Arizona on Thursday and Friday.
Snow also fell in the Prescott area, where some Valley traveler had a day of snowball fight. It also added extra foot traffic for stores in the downtown area of the town.
Roads in parts of the High Country became downright dangerous, due to snow. For some, the snow and cold temperatures was not exactly how they would envision the start of baseball season.
