The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office released video capturing the crash. Bodycam footage from March 27 shows a deputy stepping out of his vehicle along State Road 165 to deploy stop sticks when the Bud Light truck slammed into his unoccupied patrol car.

The deputy was not hurt, but authorities said the impact caused significant damage to the patrol vehicle and sent the semi off the roadway, where it came to rest in a field.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Randall Baker, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, auto theft and operating while intoxicated.

Local reports say the truck was stolen while its driver was unloading it, forcing him to jump from the moving vehicle.
