Suspect in San Diego hooklah lounge murder caught in Phoenix

Police have taken into custody a suspect who is wanted in San Diego for a homicide at a hookah lounge.

U.S. Marshals took into custody 26-year-old Neil Downey on Thursday evening in the area of 21st Avenue and Turney. Downey was wanted in San Diego for shooting and killing Rodney Harmon at a hookah lounge in the San Diego area in November 2014.

Marshals received information back in August of this year that Downey may have been hiding in the Valley.

Members of the Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force were able to identify addresses and associates linked to the suspect. Then, Thursday afternoon, Downey was spotted leaving a residence in Phoenix near 21st Avenue and Turney and was quickly apprehended. He's expected to be extradited back to San Diego.
