Buffalo Bills fans at new $2.2 billion Highmark Stadium weigh in with reactions of obstructed views

The Buffalo Bills will kick off the 2026 NFL season with a new stadium as their quest begins for the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl championship. 

Bills fans got their first look at the new Highmark Stadium when the team hosted the "Return of the Blue and Red" practice event on Aug. 8. 

Buffalo’s $2.2 billion outdoor stadium doesn’t have a roof to maintain the outdoor element Bills fans reveled in at the old stadium, while giving the team a competitive advantage. There are infrared heaters under the seating areas to ensure fans are comfortable in the winter months. 

Some stadium seats have a pane of glass blurring views, while other seats in the upper deck block most of the red zone on the far side of the field. And the high-end seats, in the stadium’s lower level, have their view of the other side of the field blocked by a standing platform.

The stadium’s debut this weekend was met with mixed reviews from some fans over its design, including gripes about obstructed views.

One person on social media weighed in writing "Whoever designed the new Bills stadium wasn't very keen to detail. Imagine paying tens of thousands on PSLs and season tickets and walk into a view like this."

Another hopped on social media and wrote, "The obstructed view seating inside the Bills new Highmark Stadium is definitely a significant problem. The fact there are fans claiming ticket reps blatantly lied to them is an even bigger issue."

Another post displayed a view of the field from a higher level seat completely through glass with staircase railings. "Imagine paying for this seat at the #Bills stadium."

"I must say…the videos and photos coming out of the new Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium are no bueno. Teeny tiny jumbo trons — basic seats with viewing obstructions," a commenter posted.

Other fans shared favorable stadium’s look and feel with one user on X posting, "It feels like there’s a group of folks determined to undermine or talk down the Bills new stadium in spite of how incredible it is by focusing on the few imperfections rather than the other 99% of features and vast improvements."

Another person commented on X writing, "I guess the 60,000 fans that don’t have obstructed seats should post their views. It’s a beautiful stadium and it’s an upgrade in every way - parking (yes, there is more room to tailgate), entering the stadium, concessions, restrooms, the seats, natural grass, concourse."

"Anyone complaining about the new Bills Stadium is delusional. In 2014 there was a non-zero chance of being relocated to Toronto. Now we have a brand-new state of the art stadium in Orchard Park. I, for one, am grateful. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Go Bills," another user wrote.
