Footage of deadly Libya flooding
Before and after satellite images obtained from Maxar Technologies on September 13 depict the catastrophic flooding aftermath in Derna, Libya, resulting in the tragic loss of more than 5,300 lives. Government officials announced on Wednesday that classes would be suspended nationwide for 10 days as a sign of solidarity with the victims. The Red Crescent, actively providing emergency aid in the region, reported that the dams along the Wadi Darnah river collapsed during the onslaught of Storm Daniel on Sunday, leading to the devastating destruction of significant parts of Derna. The images provided showcase the impacted dams, as well as extensively damaged roadways and neighborhoods.
