PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- In the aftermath of the deadliest wildfire in California history, beer might be able to play a role in the rebuilding effort.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has put out the call to brewers across the country to help with recovery, and many responded, including some in the Valley.

Dave Burkle, a brewer at O.H.S.O Brewery & Distillery in Phoenix, started brewing the Resilience Butte County Proud IPA on Tuesday. The recipe was put out by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. That company is located in Butte County, a part of California devastated by recent wildfires.

"Sierra Nevada, out of Chico, California, has come up with an idea to support all the first responders, the firefighters, and the community, by brewing a batch of IPA," said Burkle.

The request went out to beer brewers around the country, and O.H.S.O., along with more than 1,000 other breweries, will put the IPA on tap and donate 100% of the proceeds to the relief efforts.

"We're participating here, and also the Gilbert Brewery," said Burkle. "We've got 6 barrels. That's about 12 full kegs that we'll be donating."

The beer should be on tap by the end of December or early 2019, as it takes a few weeks to get it ready.

"It's got a lot of malt backbone to it, a little bit of color, the caramel malts give it a little bit of sweetness," said Burkle.

Sierra Nevada had already been helping to feed first responders and people displaced, they're estimating this could create almost 9 million pints of beer nationwide.

"Every batch is a lot of fun, but when we know that it's going somewhere, or for someone, it's great, it's a good feeling," said Burkle.
