2 arrested following burglary, officer-involved shooting

Phoenix police say two teens have been arrested following an officer involved shooting Thursday afternoon.

According to a statement released by Sgt. Vince Lewis with Phoenix police, officers arrived at the scene of a burglary in progress at around 2:30 p.m., at a home near the 8800 block of W. Kingman Street. Officers then confronted one of the two suspects, who was armed, and the officer fired his weapon.

The suspect, a 15-year-old teen who was not injured, immediately surrendered. The other suspect, a 17-year-old teen, left in a car and was taken into custody after hitting another car near 50th Avenue and Van Buren.

The other driver was not injured in the collision.
