2 hospitalized following boat explosion on Lake Havasu: MCSO

Deputies in Mohave County say two people were taken to a hospital for serious burns after a boat exploded at Lake Havasu.

What we know:

Per a statement released on Aug. 24, the explosion happened on Aug. 21 near a boat ramp at Lake Havasu.

"Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Marine Enforcement Unit observed the incident and began rendering aid to the three occupants who were on board," read a portion of the statement.

What they're saying:

"MCSO Deputies arrived on scene and observed a 28-foot Commander boat fully engulfed in flames near the Nautical Houseboat Rentals," the Mohave County Sheriff's Office statement read. "Deputies were able to keep the fully engulfed boat away from other boats and the houseboats, while they worked to extinguish the flames with their patrol boats."

MCSO identified two of the three people onboard as a 26-year-old woman and a 55-year-old woman. Both women are from Ontario, Calif., and both were taken to the hospital for burn injuries.
