Are you a match? Baby boy with 'weeks to live' needs partial liver transplant

A family in Wisconsin is making a public plea to save their 5-month-old baby boy.

The parents of little Marcus Albers say he is in urgent need of a partial liver transplant. His mother, Whitney McLean says they've been told he only has weeks to live unless a suitable donor is found.

"Marcus was diagnosed with liver disease after birth and is currently in the ICU awaiting a liver transplant at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin," says the family on Marcus's GoFundMe page.

None of the family is a match so they are hoping a stranger will step in and save their baby's life.

Marcus suffers from immunodeficiency 47, a rare disease that has destroyed his liver. Marcus's 2-year-old brother suffers from the same disease and will need a transplant one day.

The hospital is looking for donors with the blood type of either O positive or O negative. Donors also must be under the age of 40, weigh less than 150 pounds, in good health, a non-smoker, a non-drinker (heavy) and not recently pregnant.

Anyone who thinks they could be a match, contact a Froedtert Hospital Living Donor Coordinator at (414) 805-1437 or (414) 805-1438. Or e-mail at marcustransplantchw@gmail.com .

You can also help cover the family's medical expenses by donating to their GoFundMe page.
