Arizona residents eye Super Tuesday results

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Arizona's Presidential Preference Election isn't until March 22. But voters across the state are keeping a close watch on the Super Tuesday results. As one political expert explains, the race to the White House is unlike any other.

The analyst says it's hard to imagine any scenario where Clinton and Trump do not become their party's nominees, but there're more than a dozen primary elections this month alone. And for many the race to the nomination is far from over.

As the polls close, the results get tallied, voters closely watch their candidates hoping to win big.

Michael O'Neil is a political analyst and says Super Tuesday is judgment day for the Republican and Democratic hopefuls.

"We're going into a situation where Clinton and Trump will not have cinched the nomination, but at that point it looks inevitable, I think that's where we are in 24 hours," said O'Neil.

But while supporters organize at Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton watch parties, on the GOP side leaders say they aren't hosting any watch parties.

"I think they are all scratching their heads... what do we do now," he said.

O'Neil also says with Trump in the race, predictions are difficult, there is no playbook in this election.

"This whole phenomenon with Trump defies absolutely all of the rules. It's kind of a one of a kind deal so in a way any kind of script you write for what normally happens, you have to say but this time might be different," said O'Neil.

Arizona voters can make their voices heard at the polls which take place on March 22.
