Man killed after portable toilet falls from truck onto interstate

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - A 56-year-old Arkansas man was killed after his vehicle struck a portable toilet that fell from a truck on Interstate 49 in Benton County, according to the Arkansas State Police.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. on July 24 on southbound Interstate 49 near mile marker 86 in Bentonville.

According to a preliminary crash report, a 2007 International Harvester truck was traveling south in the middle lane while carrying two portable toilets. One of the portable toilets fell into the middle lane of the interstate.

Authorities said a 2021 Honda traveling behind the truck struck the portable toilet. The driver of the Honda, identified as Ronald Langley, 56, of Bella Vista, sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash occurred under cloudy skies on dry road conditions, according to investigators.

Arkansas State Police Trooper Bailey L. Bowers is investigating the incident. The report did not indicate whether any citations had been issued, and the investigation remains ongoing.
