Doc & Eddy's owner, staff trying to recover from weekend fire that destroyed restaurant

TEMPE, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- New details are being released on a fire that destroyed a popular Tempe sports bar that has been around for more than three decades.

Tempe Fire officials say crews responded to heavy fire conditions at Doc and Eddy's Bar and Restaurant early Sunday morning. Multiple fire crews from the cities of Chandler, Gilbert, Guadalupe, Mesa, and Phoenix rushed to the scene to help Tempe firefighters battle the fire. The fire was later put out, but there is extensive damage to the building.

"The fire was traveling through the building and we did have at least three aerial ladders in the air, spraying water into the building," said Brandon Siebert with the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department.

FOX 10's Matt Galka reports.
