F-16 aircrafts to do pre-Super Bowl flyover of stadium

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Anyone in the vicinity of the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale may hear the rumbling of F-16 fighter aircraft on Thursday.

The Arizona Air National Guard says two aircraft will briefly fly over the site around noon in preparation for the Super Bowl.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon jets will pass over a few thousand feet above ground.

Arizona Guard officials say the fly-over highlights the Federal Aviation Administration's airspace restrictions during the NFL's biggest game Feb. 1.

They say North American Aerospace Defense Command fighters will oversee enforcement of temporary flight restrictions above the stadium.

The aircraft and pilots are assigned to the Guard's 162nd Wing in Tucson.

That unit conducted the same role when the Super Bowl was played in Glendale in 2008.
