Police said the shooting happened at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria located in the 6000 block of Powers Ferry Road.

Federal authorities said an FBI agent confronted a gang suspect, Cedric Hill, 25, in the lobby of the hotel, then ran off toward his white pick-up truck. The FBI agent was dragged by the suspect's vehicle as he tried to get away.

The agent ended up getting pulled onto New Northside Drive, across Interstate 285, and onto the North Access Road. Investigators said as he was being dragged, the agent opened fire and shot the suspect.

Authorities believe the agent was dragged for about a quarter of a mile before falling off. He was taken to the hospital with multiple broken bones, but he's expected to survive.

Sandy Springs Police responded to the scene and found the injured suspect near the hotel. He was taken to the hospital.

Hill is a Marietta native and was federally indicted on RICO conspiracy charges in October 2017 in a 30 person investigation.
