Flagstaff police: Female remains found, believed to be of missing Valley teacher
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Flagstaff police say human remains found in Mayer are believed to belong to missing Phoenix teacher Cathryn Gorospe.
Gorospe, 44, has been missing since October 6 after she bonded 27-year-old Charlie Malzahn out of the Coconino County Jail.
Sgt. Cory Runge with the Flagstaff Police Department says on October 14, 2017 while continuing to search for Gorospe, they discovered the remains of an adult female on private property off Nugget Mine Road in Mayer, Arizona.
Investigators believe the remains belong to Gorospe based a match of the physical description of her, but results are pending through DNA testing.
The suspect in Gorospe's disappearance, Malzahn, gave investigators details and directions, which resulted in locating the human remains.
The investigation has been classified as a homicide and is ongoing.
No charges have been filed in the case at this time.
