Glendale police arrest suspect in fatal strip mall shooting

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Police in Glendale say a man has been arrested after a deadly shooting at a strip mall last weekend near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

They say 19-year-old Javonte Dujuan Baker-Young is being held on suspicion of one count of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A motive for the shooting isn't immediately known and it was unclear Tuesday if Baker-Young has a lawyer yet.

Police say 18-year-old Juan Antonio Diaz was found in his vehicle with a gunshot wound early Saturday.

Diaz was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say Baker-Young also allegedly fired shots at two security guards working for the business in the area, but they weren't injured.

Baker-Young was arrested close to the shooting scene by patrol officers and police say a gun was recovered.
